Free NHS WiFi
Get Connected with Free NHS WiFi
As part of the national programme, NHS Dorset has now rolled out free NHS WiFi to all the surgeries in our network.
This means that the more than 34,000 patients of The Barcellos Family Practice, The Cranborne Practice (including Lake Road Surgery), Verwood Surgery and West Moors Village Surgery can access our wireless network free of charge in the waiting rooms across East Dorset.
People with a smartphone or tablet who visit these Practices can now access free of charge WiFi in Reception or while waiting to see their GP or other healthcare professionals.
We are committed to enhancing your experience at our GP surgery. By offering free WiFi, we aim to provide a more connected, informed, and comfortable environment for all our patients.

Benefits of Free WiFi for Patients at Our GP Surgery
Stay Connected and Informed
In today's digital age, staying connected is more important than ever. With free WiFi at our GP surgeries, patients can easily access important health information, manage appointments, and keep in touch with family or friends while waiting for their consultation.
Access to Health Resources
Free WiFi allows patients to access a wealth of online health resources. Whether researching symptoms, understanding treatment options, or reading up on preventive care, internet access empowers patients to take an active role in their health and well-being.
Entertainment and Relaxation
Waiting for an appointment can sometimes be stressful. With free WiFi, patients can stream their favourite shows, listen to music, or browse social media to pass the time and reduce anxiety. This helps create a more pleasant and relaxed environment in the waiting room.
Convenience and Efficiency
Patients can use the free WiFi to check emails, complete work tasks, or handle personal matters while they wait. This convenience ensures that their time is used productively, making the visit to the GP surgery more efficient and less disruptive to their daily routine.
Enhanced Communication
Free WiFi facilitates better communication between patients and healthcare providers. Patients can quickly access and share medical records, fill out online forms, and receive updates or reminders about their appointments, leading to a smoother and more streamlined healthcare experience.
Support for Caregivers
For those accompanying patients, free WiFi allows them to stay connected with their responsibilities. Caregivers can coordinate care, access support networks, and manage their schedules, ensuring they can provide the best possible support to their loved ones.
Need to Know More About Getting Online?
If you or someone you know could benefit from learning more about how to get online, a Digital Champion can help.
Local Digital Champions are available at libraries in East Dorset. They are friendly and patient volunteers who are good at explaining computers, without using jargon. We have an enthusiasm for all things digital and look forward to the chance to show you how it works.
If you bring along your device and questions, they will help. If you don't already have a mobile device or computer, they can offer advice on how easy it can be to join the digital community.
Free Digital Learning sessions are available at Ferndown Library on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, at Verwood Library on Tuesday or Friday afternoons and Thursday mornings, or at West Moors Library on Friday mornings.
