A message from Dr Simon Brown, GP responsible for the St Leonard’s Local Vaccination Service
Thank you to patients who have taken up the opportunity to receive a COVID-19 vaccination at St Leonard’s Hospital. The Vaccination Centre run by GPs in Verwood, West Moors, Ferndown and Wimborne continues to deliver 1000s of COVID vaccination doses each week, administering both first and second doses as vaccine supplies allow.
If you are waiting to hear about your second dose, this will be roughly 11 weeks after your first. We get little notice of delivery dates from the Government, but we will try and give you as much notice of your second dose appointment as is possible.
However, we need your help: Your second dose of COVID vaccine is vital to you and the country to get things back to normality.
Please try and make every effort to attend the offered appointment; every vaccine is allocated, and we do not have spare vaccine available to book you in at a different time or day. If you have genuine, immovable reasons (such as surgery or a hospital appointment) why you cannot attend on the date and time offered, please contact your GP practice as they may be able to re-arrange. We will not be able to provide an alternative appointment due to a clash with social commitments.
It is essential to attend for this 2nd dose to maximise your immune response. If you do not attend your offered slot, we cannot guarantee when you will be offered a further appointment. This may leave you, your household, and contacts less protected against COVID-19.
Crane Valley PCN are working with Wimborne and Ferndown PCN to provide the Covid-19 vaccine to eligible patients across nine GP practices across East Dorset.
Our Local Vaccination Service is run out of St Leonard’s Hospital.
